Avicenna’s Ilāhiyyāt had enormous influence and vast dissemination: its wide reception has determined a massive indirect tradition of the work.

Apart from the loci paralleli in other works of Avicenna, and the numerous quotations by subsequent philosophers and theologians, the Ilāhiyyāt was repeatedly commented upon; it was translated first into Latin and Persian, in the Middle Ages and at the beginning of the Modern Era, respectively, and then into German, French, English, Italian, and Turkish, in more recent times; it was also frequently printed, thus becoming accessible to a wider public.

The systematic study of the indirect tradition of the Ilāhiyyāt is in progress: in what follows, the provisional results of an on-going research are presented.
